Graphic of life clarifies if someone gets older; at a certain age there will be time when baby character comes up to somebody’s body and mind. Literally, it happened to Benjamin Button. He has this special case of life path unlike any other normal person has. Instead of going through his life from a baby to a grown man, he had his life going in reverse - ‘aging backwards’. He was born in a form of 85 year-old man trapping his own soul as a child caged as an old man’s physical ability and appearance. As he grew older, his look became younger and younger.
Benjamin’s mother died on the day he was born. Regardless of his innocence as a baby, his father considered him as a monster that caused the death of his beloved wife. Yet his physical appearance with wrinkles, he looked more like an alien than a human being. He was not like any other normal babies, he was just different. Without any hesitations, he decided to abandon his own innocent baby. He just put the baby in front of an old people’s home. Fortunately, baby Benjamin was found by a kind black woman, Queeny, who managed the house. She tenderly raised little Benjamin even though she knew very well that it took a lot efforts to take care of the young poor baby boy.
When Benjamin was young (with a frail old man look), he fell in love with a beautiful girl with a red long hair and a bright full smile, named Daisy. Daisy’s grandmother was a resident of the home. Their everlasting love began even before they had known what love means. Their feelings to each other finally matched at their forties. Somehow, at the end, Benjamin’s mind struggled. While Daisy was becoming older, Benjamin was getting younger. It was so hard for Benjamin to put their life together and at the same time he had to live his own life.
We can see the journey of Benjamin Button during many decades: World War 1 till the 21st century. Benjamin’s story shows us how basically people are born alone, and eventually die alone. But he didn't seem to worry about being left behind as his friends died one after another while he still had long years ahead to live, because he was not alone inside. He entirely realized that his existence in this world is really for something wider.
Benjamin's trapped soul in wrong era shows that actually kids are not so much different than the elderly. There is always a tiny portion of child's view in adult’s mind.
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s short story in 1921 becomes successfully a long duration movie, another collaboration between David Fincher and Brad Pitt after the successful Se7en (1995) and Fight Club (1999). Although there are some unnecessary explanations about one period of moment, it gives different yet refreshing colors to the movie instead, as in the part that tells about a big counter clockwise at the beginning of the movie and also the story about a car accident. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is an out-of-the-box idea of a fiction with many lively characters and easy-digested plot, based on an unusual journey of life.
